Lyndsey Anderson has been supporting women and families across Edinburgh and West Lothian for over six years as a midwife. She loves her job and is keen to support families even further, with the launch of Mini First Aid Edinburgh and West Lothian. Lyndsey aims to give local parents and children the first aid skills and knowledge to know what to do should an emergency happen.

In Lyndsey’s words:

“I have a great deal of first aid and medical experience which I want to pass on to families around Edinburgh and West Lothian. My Mini First Aid classes will be informative and fun, to help people remember what they learn. I do not want parents to feel overwhelmed or scared. More than anything, I would love for parents and children in my classes to feel confident in dealing with emergency situations calmly and effectively.”

Lyndsey used first aid to save her husband's life . . .

Lyndsey herself knows first-hand just how essential first aid knowledge can be. Before qualifying as a midwife, she was the designated first aider at her workplace. The skills learned in this role meant that during an emergency situation at home when her husband was choking, Lyndsey was able to act quickly to save his life.

Lyndsey says:

“It happened to me at home, but I think you can come across a first aid situation in any part of your life. It is important to know what to do so you can help. You might be the only one there.”

Mini First Aid Edinburgh and West Lothian offers 2 hour baby & toddler first aid classes for small groups of parents and carers. Classes are informal but informative and cover choking, basic life support, dealing with burns, breaks and bumps, febrile seizures & meningitis awareness. A class costs £20 per person. Lyndsey will also be offering kids and early years classes from late June in primary schools and pre-school settings. To book classes, please click here. Please note that Lyndsey also offers private classes by arrangement to suit parents’ needs.
